Building Bridges: My journey with SaaSBoomi and Caravan 2024

As the 2024 edition of SaaSBoomi’s Caravan event in the Bay Area draws near, my anticipation is at an all-time high. This year, I am thrilled to contribute to the event and reflect on my enriching journey with the SaaSBoomi community, as well as share some exciting plans for this year’s gathering.

My SaaSBoomi Journey

For over four years, I’ve been actively engaged with SaaSBoomi, starting with Almabase’s participation in the first SGx cohort. This pro-bono, pay-it-forward initiative provided us with invaluable mentorship, helping us move forward on our growth journey confidently. It was a defining moment that highlighted the immense value of a community dedicated to mutual support and growth. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring companies such as Docsumo, APPSeCONNECT, and SOCLY.io through SGx.

Each mentorship has been a learning journey, offering insights into diverse business challenges while allowing me to give back to the community. I’ve also had the opportunity to speak at several SaaSBoomi conferences. At SaaSBoomi Growth 2022, I discussed the process of refining and nailing your ICP (Ideal Customer Profile). At the 2023 Annual, I shared insights on Almabase’s successes and failures with outbound go-to-market motion, and most recently, at the 2024 Annual, I shared our playbook on Account-Based Marketing (ABM). These experiences have reinforced the power of knowledge-sharing and community collaboration.

Looking Forward to the 2024 Caravan

When Avinash invited me to join the core volunteering team for this year’s Caravan, I was genuinely honored. Caravan is SaaSBoomi’s flagship conference, designed to connect founders aiming to expand in the US market. When I started working with this small group of volunteers, I was amazed by the energy of this group, coming together week after week despite extremely busy schedules to put together a great event for founders.

I’ve been to Caravan twice before and for me, one of the biggest takeaways was the connections I made with other founders. I’m so excited to be putting together some really interesting initiatives for founders to build stronger connections with other founders this year. Here’s a sneak peek:

  • We’re introducing founder pods to cultivate strong bonds among groups of founders that (we hope) will last well beyond Caravan.
  • We’re also carving out time for founders to share candid stories of failures and mess-ups with each other. After all, we humans connect most deeply when they share their vulnerabilities with each other.
  • And then, Sunday (15th September) is going to be the most fun part of Caravan. Think hiking, cricket, drinks & social, and for the first time some cultural tours in the Bay Area.

Reflecting on my SaaSBoomi journey and the upcoming Caravan, I am filled with excitement. Paying-it-forward is a superpower and I’ve been fortunate to experience it. I look forward to another transformative experience and the chance to connect with fellow founders in meaningful ways.
