Student-athletes of FC Madras go through a routine that sets them up for success in life. We completely understand a student’s learning capability and have very carefully crafted a routine that best suits student-athletes.
FC Madras Arena is the current home of FC Madras. It is the first-ever artificial football turf that meets the FIFA standards in Tamil Nadu. The size of the pitch is 100×65 meters and satisfies the requirements by FIFA for a full-size football pitch. A variety of training equipment is available to conduct different types of training drills and sessions. Multiple goal-posts are available to play a shorter or longer format of the game. We, at FC Madras, aim to provide resources of the highest standard for our players to train and develop into football stars of the future. While we want to witness our players’ progression, it is equally important to ensure their health and safety during the ongoing pandemic through regular sanitisation of the whole facility. The Arena consists of a range of other facilities as well. They are listed below:
FC Madras provides all residential student-athletes with accommodation. Depending on the age group, we provide twin/ triple sharing accommodation for the youth. The hostel rooms are extremely open, well ventilated, and provide them space to freely move around.
All work and no play makes jack indeed a dull boy. All the athletes are also provided to play games beyond football. We encourage the kids to play multiple sports for better teamwork, including strategy games. We take them through the journeys of other sportspersons for an added dose of inspiration. The upcoming facility will have a basketball court, indoor badminton courts, rubberised running tracks, and a swimming pool to cool off. Student well-being is a state of the mind, and to cater to that, we will have mandatory sessions in yoga & meditation, fun sessions of strength & conditioning, and field trips.
We have tied up with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to ensure there is education provided to every student-athlete. Reiterating our vision which is to create champions in life, FC Madras is committed to student-athletes education, and hence facilitates the curriculum. The teachers are well-trained and also will provide 1-on-1 coaching if needed. The impetus is on grooming the kids with life skills and communication.
The day starts at 5:30 am when the residential athletes wake up and get ready for a good 2 hours of strength and conditioning regimen, followed by football drills. These drills are customized to every player’s needs, to ensure they get enough practice for the position they are being groomed for.
A very carefully customised breakfast, which is prescribed for every athlete by our in-house nutritionist, is then served to the athletes. All the meals are planned and curated to ensure the athlete gets all the protein and the right amount of carbs for a strong and well-built physique that suits the position of the athlete.
Most academic institutions have a clear pathway when it comes to academics, sports is part of that curriculum. FC Madras Academy curriculum focuses on sports integrated education which encompasses a holistic development of a student-athlete in the academy with the core focus on football education.
Apart from international exposure and student-athlete exchange programs, the curriculum focuses on athlete mental well-being, sports nutrition, overall life skills, and awareness on media interaction and antidoping.
Our goal at FC Madras is to create champions for life.
